ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

 
 

The Rainy River Foundation helps students achieve an exceptional, affordable education by awarding a variety of scholarships to new, continuing, and transferring students.

The Foundation and the college encourage all interested students to apply.

 

Scholarship application basics

First, a student must submit an application for admission to Minnesota North College - Rainy River Campus. After a student has applied for admission, they can fill out the scholarship form by clicking on the “Apply for Scholarship” button below. Students will also need to submit high school transcripts and/or college transcripts if applicable. When a student applies for scholarship to Rainy River through our online application, they are automatically reviewed for any and all eligible scholarships (academic and named scholarships) offered by the Foundation/College. There are no athletic scholarships offered at Rainy River.

Various scholarships ranging from $200 - $6,000 are available to Rainy River students. Scholarships are provided by generous friends of the College, organizations, businesses, individuals, alumni, and the Rainy River Community College Foundation.

To be eligible, students need to:

  1. Apply for Admission to Minnesota North College - Rainy River Campus

  2. Complete the online Scholarship Application, below

  3. Have a high school and/or college GPA of 2.0 or higher, or have a GED. Submit all high school and college (if applicable) transcripts, or GED to:

NOTE:

All completed scholarship applications, including all necessary transcripts, need to be received by Minnesota North College - Rainy River Campus by the following dates to be eligible for scholarship review:

FALL SEMESTER 2024: Priority Deadline - March 15, 2024, Final Deadline - August 16, 2024

SPRING SEMESTER 2025: Deadline - January 10, 2025 *Please note, spring scholarships will be offered ONLY when additional funds are available.

*All complete applications, including transcripts, received by the Priority Deadline will be the first applications to be reviewed and awarded. All completed applications received after this date will be reviewed and awarded on a monthly rolling basis.

**All completed applications, including transcripts, received by the Final Deadline will be reviewed and awarded before the beginning of the term. Any applications received after this deadline will not be reviewed for scholarships for that term. There is no Priority Deadline for Spring scholarships.


GPA Range
Amount Scholarship Name Criteria

3.5-4.0 $3,000.00 Top of the Class Student must be enrolled full-time with at least 6 Rainy River

credits. This scholarship will renew for 2nd year as long as

the student maintains a 3.25 cumulative GPA at Rainy River.


3.0-3.49 $2,000.00 Academic Achievement Student must be enrolled full-time with at least 6 Rainy River

credits. This scholarship will renew for 2nd year as long as

the student maintains a 3.00 cumulative GPA at Rainy River.

2.5-2.99 $750.00 Foundation Scholarship Student must be enrolled full-time with at least 6 Rainy River credits.


2.0-2.49 $500.00 Foundation Scholarship Student must be enrolled full-time with at least 6 Rainy River credits.

 
 
 

When TO APPLY

CRITERIA to Apply

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until August 15th. Scholarships are not guaranteed and are awarded depending on amount of applications received and remaining scholarship dollars to be awarded.

To be eligible for scholarships, students must:

  • apply for admission to Minnesota North College - Rainy River Campus

  • have a minimum 2.0 GPA based on high school or college transcripts

  • fill out the Scholarship Application and submit all high school and college transcripts as applicable


Notification of award

Students will be notified of a scholarship award about 4-6 weeks after they have submitted their scholarship application and all required documents. Award letters are sent through the postal service and will be posted to the students E-Services account.
